for health care and medical treatment.
Planning Your Trip
How should I begin planning my flight and stay?
Because you will have many practical details to plan and prepare for,
begin early to avoid last minute confusion. Book a flight with a travel
agent. Travel agents are professionals and can give you helpful hints
and advise you about schedules and other travel details. Contacting a
travel agent and (if possible) the hospital and any relatives or friends
you plan to visit before departure will alleviate some of the stress involved
in traveling overseas.
In addition, there are many books, guides, and magazines that can provide
you with more detailed information about travel discounts, tips and more.
Consult your local library or information center and try bookstores in
your area. Also, consult friends or family members who have traveled to
the same or similar destinations to advise you on packing and how you
might spend your time there. Visit City/State
for more information about weather, hotels, and local attractions.
Other Planning Tips
- Give your family a contact number of the hotel, hospital administration,
admissions, or international office, or some other person in case of
emergency. Also, give them a copy of your travel plans, indicating your
itinerary and date and time of arrival.
- Request information from your hospital/clinic and your hotel about
how to get from your arrival destination in the U.S. to the hospital/clinic
and hotel grounds.
- Take a few gifts for friends and relatives you may be visiting, especially
if you plan to stay with them in the U.S.
NOTE: Make travel arrangements as soon as possible,
and reconfirm flight reservations 72 hours before departure. Also, several
cities in the U.S. share the same names but are located in different states.
Make sure your travel agent understands your specific destination by City/State.
